Over the last
Christmas holidays Uxbridge expressed its care and friendship to the remote
First Nations Community of Weagamow by holding a week of hockey clinics for its
children and a community tournament in their newly built arena.
The Hope Through
Hockey program heads to Weagamow again this year and the Uxbridge Community is
asked for their generous donations of new or gently used hockey equipment for
the native children that don’t yet have their own.

The UMHA encourages children in the Initiation and Novice years to try their hand at all positions on the ice, including goaltender. The league maintains and shares out goalie equipment to facilitate this growth, but over time equipment can become damaged or lost making it difficult to ensure that everyone gets the opportunity without having to invest in a full set of equipment themselves.
The league is currently looking to replenish the equipment supplies, particularly in youth sizes. Pads 26" or smaller, sticks, blockers and trappers are needed. If you have any gently used equipment that's just gathering dust your donation would help give a whole team of kids a chance to take their shot in net. Please check with your coach or convenor if you're able to assist.
